Session 1 - Smarter Faster Lesson Planning with AI

11 Sep 2026 - Marti Shirley - Glenbard East High School, District 87, Lombard

This session demonstrates how AI can streamline secondary mathematics instruction without reducing instructional integrity or depth. Teachers will learn how to use AI tools to generate hooks, worked examples, misconceptions, guided practice, exit tickets, and differentiated learning materials aligned to specific mathematical standards.

The session will also explore how AI can serve as an on-demand math tutor, providing students with personalized explanations, targeted practice, and review materials based on individual learning needs and teacher-created course content.

The focus is on using AI to save time, generate ideas, support differentiation, and extend student learning while maintaining control over content accuracy and pedagogical intent.

Teachers will learn how to use predeveloped prompts to create and refine lessons, tutoring supports, and customized review resources, and will leave with a bank of effective prompts and editable templates.
